If you’ve purchased Shadowrocket before, check which Apple ID was used for the purchase before redownloading it from the App Store on a new device or after deleting the app. This guide separates purchase eligibility, app installation, and configuration recovery, with steps for when you see a price, can’t find the purchase, or find the app empty after installation.

1. Redownloading Restores Purchase Eligibility, Not Your Configuration

Shadowrocket is a one-time purchase available exclusively on the App Store. If the original purchase is valid, the app is available for redownload in your current store, and your device meets the compatibility requirements, you can download it again with the Apple ID used to buy it—without paying for the app again. Deleting the app or switching iPhones or iPads does not turn a completed purchase into a new one.

Keep three things separate: the purchase eligibility recorded by the App Store, the app installed on your device, and the configuration saved within the app. Being able to redownload confirms the purchase eligibility and installation path; it does not mean that server entries, Config files, rules, or settings from your old device will automatically appear on the new one.

Bottom line: Check your configuration before migrating, while the old device is still available

Before deleting the app from your old device, make sure you can restore your configuration, that you can still access your existing subscription URL, and that you’ve safely stored any necessary information. Redownloading from the App Store is not a configuration backup.

2. Redownload Shadowrocket from the App Store

Follow these steps in the App Store on your new iPhone or iPad. On newer versions of the system, Apple ID may appear as Apple Account. The app list may be labeled Apps, My Apps, or Purchased. Use whichever equivalent option appears on your device; there’s no need to keep searching for an older menu label.

  1. Check the purchase account

Go to Settings → your account name → Media & Purchases and check the account used for App Store purchases. It may be different from your iCloud account. This should be the Apple ID originally used to purchase Shadowrocket.

  2. Open your app list

Go to App Store → your account picture in the top-right corner → Apps → My Apps. If your device shows Purchased, open that instead. Verify your account if prompted, then view your app history.

  3. Search for the app

Search for Shadowrocket in your app list. You can also switch to Not on this iPhone, or the equivalent list for apps not installed on your device, to find apps you’ve already purchased.

  4. Check the App Store listing

Open the product page and verify the name Shadowrocket, the developer Shadow Launch Technology Limited, and the app ID 932747118. See the App Store listing for device compatibility and system requirements.

  5. Redownload the app

Tap the cloud download icon, complete any verification prompts, and wait for installation. If the button says Open, the app is already on your device. If it still shows a price, check your purchase history as described in the next section before confirming another purchase.

3. Can’t Find Shadowrocket in Purchases, or the Store Still Shows a Price

Seeing a price in search results doesn’t necessarily mean the original purchase is missing. Open the full product page, then check the account and purchase history. A different account, hidden purchases, a change in store region, or device compatibility may affect whether the app appears or can be redownloaded.

What you see Where to check What to do next
No results in the purchased apps list Settings → your account name → Media & Purchases Make sure this is the account used for the original purchase; don’t check only the iCloud account.
You remember buying it, but it’s not in the list App Store → account picture → account name → Hidden Purchases Check for hidden purchases. If you find Shadowrocket, use the option on the page to unhide or download it.
The product page still shows a price Settings → your account name → Media & Purchases → View Account → Purchase History Expand the date range and look for the original Shadowrocket purchase.
The purchase is listed, but you can’t download the app Compatibility details on the App Store product page and your account’s region settings Note the exact message shown in the store and check the system requirements and availability in your current region.
The cloud download stays pending Device storage, your current network, and any App Store account prompts Resolve any storage or account verification prompts, then try again. App configuration isn’t involved at this stage.

Purchase History may show only a default date range, so expand it to include older orders. If the receipt belongs to a different account, check the purchase under that account rather than assuming the current account has the same eligibility. A refunded purchase is no longer a valid purchase for redownload.

If you’ve confirmed the original purchase account and a valid purchase record but the store still asks you to pay, contact App Store account support to check the order. Have the app name, order date, order number, and error message ready. Never share your account password or verification code. If you send a screenshot, hide your full email address, payment details, and unrelated orders to protect your privacy.

4. Home Is Empty After Installation: Restore Your Own Content

If Shadowrocket opens after reinstalling but Home doesn’t show your previous entries, you may still need to restore the app data. First check whether device migration or backup restoration has finished, then review Home, Config, and Settings. Seeing the app icon on your Home Screen doesn’t mean all your data has migrated.

A one-time app purchase ≠ a service plan. Buying Shadowrocket doesn’t create usable server entries or renew an existing service. The steps below assume you already have your own service provider and subscription. This site does not provide, sell, or recommend nodes or subscriptions.

  1. Check Home first: Make sure your existing entries are there. If anything is missing, restore it using information you’ve kept. An App Store receipt is not a subscription URL.
  2. Then restore an existing subscription: If you need to import it again, go to “+” in the top-right corner of Home → select Subscribe under Type → enter your own subscription URL → save and update. Subscription URLs are sensitive; don’t post them publicly in comments or support screenshots.
  3. Check Config: Make sure your original configuration is present and the correct one is selected. Restoring a single server entry won’t restore custom rules, policies, or other configuration details.
  4. Finally, check Settings: Review connection settings such as Settings → On Demand. Check each setting on your new device instead of assuming it matches your old one.

5. After Restoring Your Configuration, Check Global Routing and On Demand

Finishing the download doesn’t mean you should turn on a connection right away. First make sure the content you need is present, then check Global Routing on Home. The comparison below covers Config and Direct only as a way to verify your restored setup. Don’t switch to other Global Routing options, such as Proxy or Scene, without understanding your original settings.

Config: Use the configuration

Recommended

Requests are handled according to the rules in the selected configuration. After restoring, make sure the original configuration is selected and that each rule’s target corresponds to an available entry. Config does not mean all requests will use a proxy.

Best for: Everyday use when you previously used rule-based routing and have verified the configuration.

Direct: Route directly

Uses a direct connection and isn’t a way to test whether an existing proxy server works. It can help as a comparison setting during troubleshooting, but it doesn’t restore your old configuration or turn off the system’s VPN configuration.

Best for: Situations where you specifically need a direct connection, or want to distinguish direct and proxy paths while troubleshooting.

Bottom line: Test manually before restoring automatic connections

First check your Home entries and Config selection, then test a manual connection. After that, review Settings → On Demand. If something goes wrong, this makes it easier to tell whether content is missing or the automatic connection conditions aren’t behaving as expected.

The first time you connect, the system may ask to add a VPN configuration. Review the prompt and authorize it if needed; this is separate from whether you’ve paid for the App Store app. On Demand starts connections when the conditions you set are met; it doesn’t restore purchase records or retrieve subscriptions. Before testing, note your original settings and change one item at a time so you can revert if there’s a problem.

6. Switching to iPad, Buying Again, and Confirming Recovery

I bought it on iPhone. Do I need to buy it again for iPad?

On your iPad, sign in to the App Store with the Apple ID used for the original purchase and follow the purchased-app steps to check whether you can redownload it. Don’t buy it again before checking. Shadowrocket is primarily used on iPhone and iPad; the store also lists compatibility information for Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. See the App Store listing for system requirements and purchase availability.

Do I need to tap Restore Purchases in the app to restore my download eligibility?

This guide covers redownloading an app already purchased through the App Store. Do that from your store account and purchased apps list. Don’t assume that the Restore Purchases flow found in other apps is required, and don’t change your existing configuration just to look for that button.

The app finished downloading, so why can’t I connect?

Purchase eligibility only determines whether you can get the app. Connecting also depends on your own server details, subscription status, current network, selected configuration, and system VPN authorization. Check Home for content first, then review Config and Global Routing. Troubleshoot the specific error; buying the app again won’t fix connection configuration issues.

Checking these three areas separately helps distinguish a missing purchase record from a configuration that wasn’t restored or a connection failure. If the old device still works, keep it until you’ve finished checking the new one before deleting the app or erasing the device.
